Solution:
Smart Oil Field Systems

Overview

With Headquarter in Benghazi, Libya, the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) produces over 500,000 Barrel of Oil per day from over 1000 Oil wells.

Business need:

As AGOCO expands its operation to new areas and new wells, the company needs to develop state of the art Early Production Monitoring & Control Systems to operate, monitor and control these remotely scatted oil fields.  This project was for the engineering, Supply, installation supervision and commissioning of Smart Oil Field system to Monitor and Control Production, Field Operation and custody metering and export. The project comprised of 20 Oil Wells. 4 Oil Fields, Early Production Facilities, Crude Oil Storage, and Custody Metering and Export of Crude Oil.

The Assignment:

To perform as the Engineering Contractor’s functions undertaking the Conceptual, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for the whole project. Furthermore, designing the Controls Systems to deliver a best-in-class Integrated Control & Safety System (DCS/ESD/F&G) for control and monitoring of the Early Production Facility and Export Terminal and its operation and custody transfer Metering and Fiscal Management.

The Solution:

A full automatic, integrated Smart Oil Field System including Control, Monitoring, Metering & Safety system was designed and developed including Emergency Shutdown System and a Fire &Gas detection System for 20 oil Wells and 4 Oil fields, Early Production Facilities, custody metering and crude Oil Export pipeline. In addition, Monitoring & Control Systems were designed for the four Manifolds, the Early Production Facilities, Storage Tanks and Export Metering Systems including the Central Control Room and its facilities.  The central Control system was designed to manage the Real-time information of the all plant and facilities and manifolds and custody transfer and export of the crude Oil including the financial reporting using ABB 800xA DCS systems, AC800M Controllers and S-800 IOs. All facilities were inter-connected via the Fiber optic cabling system. In cases of emergency the operators were enabled to manage the Manifolds and Early Production Facilities and to lead it to safe operations environment.
